Step 3:Choose What Works
Make The One Choice That Always Works
Choose God. Don’t get hung up on the name of God. Or the “branding” that surrounds the word. Just set those arguments aside for now.
If you want your suffering to stop, you need to Admit yourself into an evolving and ongoing spiritual practice. Oh, guess what?… you design your own spiritual practice.
Every healthy relationship requires two-way communication. A healthy relationship with the Divine is no different; you will need to start “talking to” and “listening to” a power greater than yourself. [Hint: two powerful apps to download and try Prayer and Meditation]
Go to meetings and Listen to the shares of others as if the God of your understanding is speaking to you through the words of some of the codependents. Pay a different kind of attention than you normally pay and listen for what works for others.
You’ve already tried going it alone and know all too well how that works. You have nothing to lose. Oh, and as soon as you can, stop letting other people be your higher power. Our partners and our parents and our bosses make terrible higher powers, so fire them as soon as you can. You don’t have to fire them in person, just within your heart.
